Sumi Inspired Watercolor 1st-3rd Grade

All of the following art was done on white paper, and yet my photographs were taken on different days with different lighting and resulted in a variety of shades.  I printed out each student's name in Chinese to add to their artwork.

Drawing Leaves in Charcoal

The Jr/Sr High General Art class spent some time being introduced to using charcoal.  Using the subject matter of a leaf seemed simple, yet was still a challenge for those students who had never used charcoal before.

Van Gogh's Starry Night 4th-6th Grade

I love the results from this project.  We use oil pastels on black construction paper.

It is not a fast project to do - but they turn out beautiful.

Crazy Paper Faces 1st-3rd Grade

Lots of cutting and pasting to make our colorful silly faces.

After they completed their faces, it was glued to a background color of their choice and then they added the hair.

The following are their results.

Some results from our marbling project.

I love looking at all of these - such fun results.

We aren't through with these yet.  We will be adding in ink line work.  The end product won't be for quite a while.  This is a filler project and I'm not sure when they will be done.

Shaving Cream Marbling

Often it is hard to do art on the go.  It’s always a challenge to gather all the art supplies to take (mainly because I can so easily forget something) and then set everything up and clean it all up within an hour.  I was wanting to tackle the task of marbling with shaving cream with my 7th-12th grade class, but wasn’t sure of the mess within the time frame.  By using shortcuts we were able to successfully accomplish it and have a few minutes to spare – thanks to everyone  for working so diligently and leaving the room in great shape – no shaving cream on walls or ceilings or carpet!

We worked right on the table with newspapers and then just threw everything away.  Quick clean-up.  I will display some of the end results once they are dry.
